Gap Year - What's Involved?
Phase 1 - The Training and Preparation

The Introduction to Mission Course (IMC) is three months of challenging training that prepares you for your overseas placement. This training includes:
It includes:
- Teaching by experienced staff in areas such as Cross-Cultural Missions, Language Learning, and Bible Study - as well as in practical areas such as Food Hygiene and Travel Safety. (A comprehensive IMC timetable is available upon request)
- An emphasis on personal spiritual growth and mentoring
- An underlying theme of having a heart to serve, and to be an effective team member.
The training takes place mainly at our UK base in Llanelli, South Wales but also involves one week in London studying world religions, three weeks in Asia for mission, cultural experience and teaching.
To give an idea of the training areas covered, take a look at the 2008-2009 timetable.
Phase 2 - The Overseas Placements

For six months you will work alongside one of our teams located throughout the world. Some teams are small, others large - some are in cities, others in rural locations. One thing they all have in common is that they will greatly inspire you and your faith.
Various placements are outlined on our placements page – others are still being developed. Let us know which place you are interested in or which skills you are keen to use, and we will endeavour to link you up with the right one.
