World Horizons want to support emerging mission movements in any way we can, which means facilitating, training, advising and helping new mission organizations, churches and Christians worldwide who have or are developing a heart for mission and want to send workers out among unreached peoples.
At the moment we are particularly focused on Ethiopia , where we are working in partnership with a large denomination who are taking their first steps in cross-cultural ministry. We are helping the church to design and run a course in cross-cultural competence, which will supplement the theological training and practical church-planting experience they already receive.
This is coupled with training in business principles so that churches can generate finance to support their workers. The church is already actively working in the unreached tribal areas of Ethiopia and they have started to widen their area of activity beyond the country's borders as God gives them the opportunities, resources, and experienced personnel.
We want to be able to support the establishment of essential training for workers and to help the church create a good model for equipping, sending and supporting those who go out. We also plan to offer internal grants to key leaders who wish to undertake MA level training in cross-cultural leadership and will be running on-site courses in Ethiopia .
